ABOUT US
We are one of the Washington State Legislative Districts.
The 10th LD is located south of the 40th and to the west of the 39th.
WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?
The 10th Legislative District is in North Puget Sound area of Washington State. It includes North Snohomish County, all of Island County and the southwest corner of Skagit County. The District is made up of three large islands, rural farmland, and unincorporated communities. The towns of Stanwood, Arlington, Lakewood, and parts of north Marysville are in Snohomish County; Conway, Anacortes and parts of Mount Vernon are in Skagit County; Langley Freeland, Coupeville and Oak Harbor are on Whidbey Island. Camano Island has no incorporated areas.
WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?
Politically, the 10th Legislative District is considered a swing district. Dave Paul was first elected in 2018 as one of our state representatives, our first Democrat elected to that post in 20 years. Clyde Shavers was elected in 2022. Dave Paul was reelected in 2020 and 2022. The state senator is a republican.
OUR VALUES
We generally start our meetings with a Land Acknowledgement.
The Democrats of the 10th Legislative District wish to acknowledge that we gather together to state our values on lands that have been stewarded through many centuries by the ancestors and descendants of Tribal Nations who have been here since time immemorial. We honor the communities native to this area, the Lower Skagit, Swinomish, Samish, Snohomish, Stillaguamish and Suquamish peoples and recognize that our country was built on Indigenous homelands. We pay our respects to the millions of Indigenous people throughout history who have protected the lands, waters, and animals.
